OPERATION: Laparoscopic Right Hemicolectomy
ANAESTHETIC: General anaesthesia
ANTIBIOTICS: Gentamicin and Metronidazole
POSITION: Left lateral then supine

WHO Checklist. VTE prophylaxis. IV antibiotics. Urinary catheter.

FINDINGS: [Caecal or ascending colon tumour. No peritoneal disease].

PROCEDURE:
10mm infraumbilical port via modified open Hasson technique.
x2 5mm and x1 10mm ports under direct vision.

Ileocolic pedicle identified, isolated, vessels secured with Hem-o-lok clips and divided.
Medial to lateral dissection then inferolateral to hepatic flexure.
Transverse colon separated from greater omentum and around hepatic flexure.
Midline utility incision. Alexis wound protector.
Specimen delivered. Resection with GIA80 x2.
Side-to-side ileocolic anastomosis GIA80. Staple lines buried. Crotch stitch 3-0 PDS.
Re-laparoscopy to confirm orientation and haemostasis.

CLOSURE:
Looped 1 PDS to rectus sheath.
3-0 Monocryl to skin. 20ml levobupivacaine to wounds.

POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS:
Enhanced recovery programme. VTE prophylaxis.
Eat and drink as tolerated. Mobilise.
