OPERATION: Oesophageal Diverticulectomy (Zenker's Pharyngo-oesophageal Diverticulum)
ANAESTHETIC: General anaesthesia — single-lumen endotracheal intubation
ANTIBIOTICS: IV prophylaxis at induction. VTE prophylaxis applied.
POSITION: Supine with shoulder roll to extend the neck.

INDICATION:
Symptomatic Zenker's (pharyngo-oesophageal) pulsion diverticulum secondary to cricopharyngeal dysfunction. Preoperative investigations: upper GI barium swallow confirming diverticulum. Endoscopy performed — mechanical obstruction excluded. [Associated GERD treated pre-operatively]. [Large diverticulum: clear fluid diet 2-3 days pre-operatively to reduce aspiration risk at induction].
