OPERATION: Adhesiolysis for Small Bowel Obstruction (Open)
ANAESTHETIC: General anaesthesia
ANTIBIOTICS: IV broad-spectrum antibiotics at induction — continued if bowel injury encountered
POSITION: Supine. Nasogastric tube — bowel decompressed as much as possible pre-operatively. Urinary catheter. VTE prophylaxis.

INDICATION:
Small bowel obstruction secondary to adhesions from [previous abdominal surgery / peritoneal infection / congenital bands]. Failure to resolve with conservative management / signs of strangulation or closed-loop obstruction on CT / clinical deterioration.

PROCEDURE:
WHO Checklist performed. Abdomen prepared.
