OPERATION: Colostomy Closure (Reversal)
ANAESTHETIC: General anaesthesia
ANTIBIOTICS: IV broad-spectrum antibiotics at induction including anaerobic cover
POSITION: Supine. Nasogastric tube.

INDICATION:
Colostomy reversal — [loop / end colostomy] — primary condition resolved, continuity can be safely restored. Minimum 6-12 weeks since formation to allow inflammation to resolve. Pre-operative assessment: [colonoscopy / contrast enema through stoma and rectum — confirms intact distal colon / rectum with no anastomotic stricture / residual disease]. Both proximal and distal colon confirmed suitable for anastomosis.
