OPERATION: Anorectal Abscess Drainage
ANAESTHETIC: Local anaesthesia [± IV sedation] / General anaesthesia
ANTIBIOTICS: Consider systemic antibiotics if cellulitis, fever, diabetes, or immunocompromise
POSITION: [Prone jack-knife / lithotomy]

INDICATION:
Acute perianal / ischiorectal / intersphincteric abscess — [perianal / ischiorectal / intersphincteric / supralevator]. [Presenting features: perianal pain, swelling, erythema, fever]. Digital rectal examination deferred if excessively painful — diagnosis based on clinical appearance.
