OPERATION: Thyroglossal Cyst Excision (Sistrunk's Procedure)
ANAESTHETIC: General anaesthesia
ANTIBIOTICS: IV prophylaxis at induction
POSITION: Supine, neck extended with a small shoulder roll. Throat pack placed by the anaesthetist.

INDICATION:
Symptomatic thyroglossal cyst — [painless midline neck swelling / recurrent infection / concern regarding malignancy]. Ultrasound confirms midline cystic lesion related to the hyoid bone. [Thyroid gland confirmed on USS]. [Acute infection settled with antibiotics before elective surgery]. Rare papillary carcinoma of thyroglossal duct excluded on preoperative assessment.

PROCEDURE:
WHO Checklist performed. Neck prepared and draped. Level of the cyst confirmed pre-operatively.
