FINDINGS: Inflamed appendix. No free fluid in pelvis.

PROCEDURE:
Open Hasson technique. Supraumbilical 10mm port. Left iliac fossa 5mm and suprapubic 5mm ports under direct vision.

Appendix dissected off mesoappendix.
Clips to appendicular vessels.
Endoloops x3 PDS on appendix base, 2 to stay.
Appendix divided at base and brought out using retrieval bag.
No free fluid in pelvis. No other gross abnormality.
Haemostasis ensured.
Instrument and textiles count confirmed correct.

CLOSURE:
No.1 PDS fascial sutures to umbilical port.
3-0 Monocryl subcuticular sutures to skin. Dressings applied.

POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS:
Eat and drink as tolerated. Regular observations.
