INGUINAL HERNIA REPAIR (OPEN) (LICHTENSTEIN)

Indication: Symptomatic inguinal hernia requiring surgical repair. Mesh repair standard for myopectineal orifice (MPO) hernias.

Patient Position: Supine.

Anaesthesia: General, spinal, or local with sedation.

Prophylactic Antibiotics: Per local protocol.

Incision: Oblique incision over the inguinal canal.

Procedure:
1. Incision made over inguinal canal. Subcutaneous tissues divided.
2. External oblique aponeurosis identified and opened, exposing the inguinal canal floor. Ilioinguinal nerve identified and preserved.
