INGUINAL HERNIA REPAIR (LAPAROSCOPIC) (TEP)

Indication: Symptomatic inguinal or femoral hernia. Preferred approach for bilateral hernias, recurrent hernias, and in female patients (to address occult femoral hernias). Single piece of mesh covers all three MPO spaces (direct, indirect, femoral).

Patient Position: Supine, slight Trendelenburg.

Anaesthesia: General with muscle relaxation.

Prophylactic Antibiotics: Per local protocol.

Ports: Typically three small infraumbilical ports. Operation conducted entirely in the preperitoneal space — the true peritoneal cavity is not entered.
