GASTRECTOMY (DISTAL/SUBTOTAL) WITH ROUX-EN-Y RECONSTRUCTION

Indication: Gastric carcinoma (distal), nonhealing peptic ulcer, or complicated gastric ulcer disease (type I, II, or III) requiring distal gastric resection.

Patient Position: Supine.

Anaesthesia: General.

Incision: Midline laparotomy (or laparoscopic approach).

Procedure:
1. Abdomen entered and explored. Liver palpated for metastases. Peritoneum inspected.
2. Greater omentum mobilised from transverse colon. Lesser sac entered.
