Pilonidal Abscess Drainage

OPERATION: Incision and Drainage of Pilonidal Abscess
ANAESTHETIC: General anaesthesia
CEPOD: Emergency

FINDINGS: Pilonidal abscess.

PROCEDURE:
Longitudinal incision over most fluctuant area, lateral to midline.
Pus sent for culture and sensitivity.
Pus evacuated. Curettage performed.
Haemostasis achieved. Betadine applied.

CLOSURE:
Packed with Sorbact. Dressing applied.

POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS:
Home same day if well.
Alternate day dressings from two days post-operatively.
