DISTAL PANCREATECTOMY WITH SPLENECTOMY Indication: Carcinoma of the body or tail of the pancreas, or benign/low-malignant-potential pancreatic lesions in the body/tail (IPMN, mucinous cystic neoplasm). Spleen usually removed en-bloc to achieve adequate oncological clearance of the splenic hilum nodes. Patient Position: Supine (or right lateral for laparoscopic approach). Anaesthesia: General. Prophylactic Antibiotics: Per protocol. Incision: Midline laparotomy or laparoscopic approach. Procedure: 1. Abdomen entered and explored. Metastatic disease excluded.
