MASTECTOMY (SIMPLE/TOTAL) Indication: Multifocal or multicentric breast carcinoma, large tumour relative to breast size, locally advanced disease, patient preference to avoid radiotherapy, diffuse DCIS, prophylactic mastectomy (BRCA1/2 carrier). Does not include axillary clearance (axillary staging performed separately if required). Patient Position: Supine, ipsilateral arm extended on arm board or tucked at side. Shoulder slightly elevated. Anaesthesia: General. Prophylactic Antibiotics: Per local protocol. Incision: Transverse (or oblique) elliptical incision encompassing the nipple-areola complex, with skin excision determined by tumour proximity to skin and cosmetic considerations. Procedure:
