OPERATION: Open Right Hemicolectomy
ANAESTHETIC: General anaesthesia, epidural. Gentamicin and Metronidazole.

FINDINGS: [Caecal or ascending colon cancer].

PROCEDURE:
Midline incision. Right colon mobilised lateral to medial.
Duodenum identified and preserved.
Mesentery taken with Ligasure. Ileocolic vessels transfixed x2.
Terminal ileum divided with GIA80. Transverse colon divided with GIA80.
Side-to-side anastomosis with GIA80.
Enterotomy closed with PDS. Crotch stitch x2.
Washout. Haemostasis ensured.

CLOSURE:
Mass closure with looped PDS. Clips to skin.

POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS:
Eat and drink as tolerated. Extended LMWH on discharge.
Colorectal MDT with histology. Clip removal at 10 days.
