OPERATION: Open Gastrostomy (Stamm)
ANAESTHETIC: General anaesthesia
ANTIBIOTICS: IV prophylaxis at induction
POSITION: Supine.

INDICATION:
Inability to maintain oral nutrition due to [pharyngeal / oesophageal obstruction or dysfunction — specify]. Open gastrostomy indicated as PEG not feasible or contraindicated [/ adjunct to concurrent abdominal procedure]. Pre-operative fluid and electrolyte optimisation performed. Coagulation corrected as required.

PROCEDURE:
WHO Checklist performed. Abdomen prepared and draped xiphoid to umbilicus.
