OPERATION: Breast Needle Localisation Excision Biopsy
ANAESTHETIC: Local anaesthesia with IV sedation [/ general anaesthesia]
POSITION: Supine, arm on operative side on arm board.

INDICATION:
Non-palpable breast abnormality — [BIRADS 4 or 5 / atypical hyperplasia / carcinoma on core biopsy — lesion non-palpable]. Wire or marker localisation not suitable for image-guided core biopsy. Localisation wire placed in radiology suite under [mammographic / USS] guidance using local anaesthesia immediately pre-operatively. Two-view localisation films reviewed.

PROCEDURE:
WHO Checklist performed. Correct side and site confirmed. Wire entry site and lesion position on localisation films reviewed — incision planned over the lesion, not at the point of wire skin entry.
