OPERATION: Diagnostic Laparoscopy and Laparoscopic Appendicectomy
ANAESTHETIC: General anaesthesia
CEPOD: Elective

WHO Checklist performed.

FINDINGS: Thickened retrocaecal appendix.

PROCEDURE:
Open Hasson technique. Infraumbilical 11mm port. Suprapubic 5mm and right iliac fossa 5mm ports under direct vision.

Blunt and sharp adhesiolysis performed.
Ligasure to mesoappendix and appendicular vessels.
Endoloops x3 PDS on appendix base, 2 to stay.
Appendix divided at base and brought out using retrieval bag.
No free fluid in pelvis. Haemostasis ensured.

CLOSURE:
No.1 PDS fascial sutures to umbilical and suprapubic ports.
3-0 Monocryl subcuticular sutures to skin. Dressings applied.

POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS:
Eat and drink as tolerated. Regular observations. Bloods the following morning.
