OPERATION: Open Repair of ParaUmbilical Hernia
ANAESTHETIC: General anaesthesia

FINDINGS: ParaUmbilical hernia with pre-peritoneal fat protrusion through narrow defect.

PROCEDURE:
Longitudinal incision.
Herniation cleared all round.
Sac opened - confirmed to contain only pre-peritoneal fat, no bowel.
Defect carefully enlarged to allow reduction of herniated fat.
Adequate clearance of fascia confirmed all around.

CLOSURE:
No.1 Ethilon interrupted fascial sutures.
Wound irrigated with saline.
Subcutaneous tissue approximated with 2-0 Vicryl.
Clips to skin.

POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS:
Regular observations. Avoid excessive straining for 4 weeks.
